Another wild and wonderful weekend awaits

April 30, 2014

The second Women’s Boxing Weekend Clinic – a joint venture between MBC and Canberra-based amateur champion boxer Bianca ‘BamBam’ Elmir – is shaping up to be as exciting as the first one in Melbourne on the Australia Day weekend.

This time we’ve chosen the Queen’s Birthday long weekend do something the Queen would never do – punch on with other women and make lasting friendships and connections.

The clinic will take place at Stockade Training Centre in Dickson in Canberra

The weekend’s activities will start on Friday June 6 with a simple meet and greet non-training session. Anyone who thinks they’ll have trouble making that first session need not worry because the real work won’t get under way until Saturday morning. The final session will be on Monday June 9 and  we’re planning a special fight night competition for Sunday night.

The Melbourne clinic was a great success. So much so that we realised once a year wasn’t enough.

So it’s back by popular demand!

The weekend is appropriate for all levels from novice to elite but we found it was particularly helpful to those wanting to make the transition from fitness boxing to competition boxing as well as those who hadn’t had much of a chance to spar other females.

The clinic will offer;

• a true gauge of your own skills against other women boxers

• video analysis of sparring sessions to help you see your skills and errors

• a chance to share knowledge and test your limits

• an opportunity to demonstrate your skills in a grand finale boxing tournament

Here’s what some of you said about the first weekend clinic;

“I had a splendid sports and human experience and am trying to apply what I learned in my daily training. I found that working with so many different girls was really challenging and allowed me to understand more quickly my mistakes. I think that having the opportunity to meet other women in this sport was incredibly precious! Sharing passion, fears, struggle and our personal victories was a victory itself.” – Isa

‘I was inspired, challenged and also at times surprised by what I may be capable of.’ Mel

“Thanks for organising such a wonderful clinic! I got a lot out of it, both on a physical level and a personal relationship level. It was great to meet like minded women and forge new friendships and connections.” – Danielle

Weekend Cost $170 Per Person.
